As the number of COVID-19 cases in America begins to spike, we know many people are hesitant to welcome someone into their home. But because Home Care is an essential part of many seniors’ health and wellness routines, we understand how important it is for our Caregivers to do everything in their power to keep themselves and your loved ones safe.
Home Care in the Age of COVID-19
Since the founding of Home Helpers® Home Care, the care and safety of our clients and Caregivers has always been our number one priority. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), older adults (especially those above 85) are at a greater risk of requiring hospitalization or experiencing more serious complications if they’re diagnosed with COVID-19.
In order to keep every one of our clients safe, our Caregivers are following all guidelines set by the CDC as well as the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA). This includes:
- Washing hands frequently throughout the workday and when at home.
- Disinfecting surfaces routinely.
- Checking clients and themselves for fever/symptoms daily.
- Maintaining social distance practices when at work and in their personal life.
- Regularly checking in with the agency.
- Routinely testing for COVID-19.
Home Helpers CEO & President Emma Dickison recently went on the Help Choose Home podcast to discuss the ways in which home is a safer place to recover and receive care amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
